Preventing Mosquitoes
The D's of Prevention
- Dump or Drain any standing water that may produce mosquitoes.
- Defend yourself by using an effective repellent (see below), avoid being outside during dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active, and dress appropriately by wearing long sleeves and pants when outdoors.
- District employees are available to address any mosquito problem you may have: call (707)263-4770, come by our office at 410 Esplanade St., Lakeport, or fill out our online service request form.
Report an unmaintained pool or spa
A single unmaintained pool can produce thousands of Culex mosquitoes every day. Help to protect your family, friends, and neighbors by letting the District know if there is a pool or spa that may be producing mosquitoes in your community. You may remain anonymous. We have a variety of solutions to control mosquitoes in pools, spas, and ponds that will not damage them or adversely affect other animals that may use the water. Fill out our online service request form or call (707-263-4770) to report standing water.
